Finding God’s Presence in Gratitude

by Sr. Marie Alice Ostry, ND

Pondering the past several months, I have deepened my realization of who I am and how I am.  Throughout my life in much that I have read and the conferences I have attended the idea of GRATITUDE keeps surfacing often.  Therefore, listening to the “voice within” I made the conscious decision to reflect on “What was I grateful for this day.”  As I reviewed the previous day, I wrote down the instances I remembered of the day and began my new day.

Each day I repeated this process and found that my days began to be more aware of and attentive to the positive experiences of the day.  I found that there was more joy in interactions with others.  It seemed to be that I met more people with smiles on their faces and greetings as we passed on our journeys.

As the months passed I concluded that I had “found out” what BEING human could mean is being PRESENT with one’s PRESENCE.
