The Crisis in Venezuela

Public Statement from the Notre Dame Sisters, Omaha Province

For Immediate Release (January 13, 2026) – Omaha, NE — The Notre Dame Sisters, Omaha Province, are prompted by the crisis in Venezuela to pray for the people of Venezuela, the United States, and the world community.

The people of Venezuela have the right to live in peace with a government of their own choosing.

The people of the United States have a right and responsibility to be represented by a government that observes the rule of domestic and international law.

The people of the international community have a right to expect that the United States will respect the established international order designed for peace.

In addition to prayer for those affected by this crisis we urge all of us to respect the voice and desires of the Venezuelan people by educating ourselves about the situation as a way to take responsibility as citizens.

We offer resources below to help us become informed neighbors to the Venezuelan people.
