Reflection for the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time…August 2, 2020

By Juanita Harding, Notre Dame Associate

A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans 8:35, 37-39.

This reading written centuries ago, is perfect for our time right now.

Saint Paul is asking, “What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?

If Saint Paul were here today I am sure he would have included the Corona Virus.  This virus is the most challenging disaster our world has experienced in this generation. We must remember that nothing, not even this pandemic, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We are all called now to do what we can to help others get through this.  Share your faith with others. Stay optimistic. Remember God loves us. Our prayers will be heard.
