Reflection for the 27th Sunday in Ordinary time… October 4, 2020

By Cindy Wenninghoff, Notre Dame Associate

This Sunday’s readings focus on the vineyard, and producing fruit.  Jesus is very direct in his words that “the kingdom of God will be taken away and given to a people that will produce its fruit.”  It’s easy to compare this to God cultivating us as a people, giving us his graces and laying the groundwork for us to grow in his love.  And more importantly that we share these blessings with others.  Everyone we meet should know that we are of God.

Although the consequences in the parables can be a little scary, the second reading reminds us that we should have no anxiety about anything, God will answer our prayers.  Imagine that…we can look at each day with joy – “Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me.  Then the God of peace will be with you.”
