Reflection for the Fifth Sunday of Easter…May 2, 2021

By Sr Anita Rolenc ND

Acts 9:26-311             John 3:18-24                  John 15:1-8

Jesus tells us in John’s Gospel, “I am the vine, you are the branches.”  God, as the vine grower, prunes every branch in order that it bear more fruit.  We need to remain in Jesus in order to bear fruit.

Most of us are familiar with plants and what is necessary for growth and production of fruit and vegetables.  So, in reflecting on the Gospel, ponder these questions:

If Jesus is the TRUE VINE, am I attached to him?  How?

Have I been PRUNED of sin through the Sacrament of Reconciliation?

Do I REMAIN IN JESUS through daily prayer, Sunday Mass, and Scripture study?

What FRUIT of good works/acts do I produce as a result?

May your VINE reap a harvest of good deeds for God and your neighbor!
