Reflection for the Second Sunday of Easter…April 11, 2021   Divine Mercy Sunday

GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD FOR HE IS GOOD, HIS LOVE IS EVERLASTING

HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER

The following are some thoughts I encountered in preparing a reflection for Divine Mercy Sunday.  They have brought to my life – and I hope will fill your life – with hope, inspiration, and encouragement.

As Christians, we encounter God, who in His love for us, responds to our sin with Mercy.  Remember that on the Cross He forgave our sin.  It is in this forgiveness that our own life ends, and God’s Mercy begins.

God’s Mercy is a remedy for us.  It is God’s consoling love to us at troubled times . . . a place to reset our hearts!

A FEW WORDS ON TODAY’S GOSPEL

The risen Lord appeared to ten apostles who were afraid and behind locked doors.  But not fearless Thomas!  He’s not locked up!  Where is he?  Is he looking for Jesus?

When his brother apostles share with him their earlier encounter with the Lord, Thomas is just like many of us . .  he wanted more . . . he wanted physical proof!

When Thomas gets his encounter with the risen Jesus, he literally touches the wounds, and he declares “My Lord and my God.”

Thomas may have doubted but he now declares Jesus as his own.

Are we ready to declare Jesus as our own?
