Reflection on the Feast of the Holy Family….December 27, 2020

By Sr. Dorothy Rolf ND

What a wonderful time of the year to celebrate The Feast of the Holy Family, as well as all families.  It has been a difficult year with the pandemic, however, families spent more time together and it was inspiring to see and hear of the many acts of kindnesses performed by individuals of all ages and families over these months.   The Spirit has moved people to reach out to others to bring them comfort and joy.  And they brought much joy to many first responders, health care workers, the hungry etc.

In today’s reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Colossians, 3:12-17, we hear about what Family life in the Lord looks like.  Families are encouraged to live with

“Heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another

…  And over all these put on LOVE that is the bond of perfection.  Let the peace of Christ control your hearts.  And be thankful.”

Take some time in prayer and reflection on the life of the Holy Family.   Ask the Holy Family for the strength and courage you need to live the qualities of family and community life as encouraged by St. Paul.

What do you most want to “live” during 2021?
