How I Commemorated 40 Days for Life
By Sr. Stephanie Matcha
During Respect for Life Month, I joined in solidarity with 40 Days for Life (Sept. 22 to October 31) Pro-Life Runners for Christ and Nebraskans Embracing Life individuals and their activities to pray and fast for an end to abortion. 40 Days for Life, an internationally coordinated Campaign comprises more than 1,000 cities, 38 countries, 19,000 churches and over a million individual participants.
Pro-Life Runners comprise over 17,000 individuals. Their mantra is, “Remember the Unborn” (Jer.1:5) so they are not dismembered, referring to the reality of abortion. Pat Castle, the president and founder of Life Runners, stated “Those who pray and fast to end abortion are like the Marines. We are on the front lines with the Rosary, Mass, Holy Hours and prayerful devotions to defeat the enemy, i.e., those who perpetuate the barbaric act of killing the unborn.”
Since September 22nd, 2021, 850 babies’ lives have been saved. Women considering abortions have had a change of heart to protect the life in their womb. This includes two sets of twins and six sets of triplets, internationally.
The U.S. Bishops affirmed that ‘the threat of abortion remains our preeminent priority because it directly attacks life itself, because it takes place within the sanctuary of the family, and because of the number of lives destroyed. Since the passing of the Roe vs Wade Bill in 1973 over 63 million precious unborn lives have been ended. We are still losing 2,463 preborn children every day in the United States and their mothers and fathers are left with abortions destructive trauma. Stand on the Front Lines, Pray for an end to Abortion”.
