REFLECTION FOR 13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FOR JULY 2, 2023

by Sr. Cynthia Hruby, ND

A few days ago when I was working in the chapel garden, Sr. Stephanie came to me with a big smile. She gave me a pop-up card, a nutritious snack, and gratitude. Little did she know that I had been pondering the Sunday readings:  Read…. Reflect…. Respond…. Rest….

Whether given or received, pop-up cards were my mother’s delight. Before she left for eternity, she promised prayers and asked us seven siblings to keep in touch, and we have. Her love and wisdom continue into our individual lives and are passed around (often on text messages). “All generations” will know her love and guidance!

In today’s readings, the Holy Spirit sent messages which challenged me to “do for others” and to remember that “the promises of the Lord” will come to me through reflection on Scripture and through others who are or have been present in my life. My Spirit “pop-ups” follow. What will be yours?
