Reflection for the Feast of Christ the King…Nov 24, 2024
by Sr. Mary Kay Meagher, ND
This Sunday’s readings may well be summarized around
Vision
In the first reading, Daniel shares his vision in which he is challenged to transform his vision of the universe to see God’s relationship within the universe in a different way, not superior nor above, nor over, nor supporting but totally engaged within — a dynamic and challenging invitation.
In Revelations, Daniel is enticed to see God in a unifying vision neither superior or inferior but a living on-going transformation of vision and therefore thrust us into investment and action into the future.
John’s gospel responds to kingdom not as a territory or nation or culture or country but our universal, spiritual and physical connectedness, universality as well as our barriers, the ‘other’, those with whom we feel are wrong, not trustful or worthy. In all of this we are yet called to be inviting and encompassing of sharing our lives, hopes, dreams, future, lifestyles where we are, where we are searching and with whom we are joining as we move into our future of clearer vision.
