Reflection for the Fourth Week of Lent – March 19, 2023
by Sr Joy Connealy, ND
As we journey through this Lenten season we are asked to deepen our faith – to strengthen our relationship with God. Being open to this gift of faith empowers us to see with new eyes and to trust God’s presence even when we don’t experience it.
The healing of the blind man was an important message for the people of Jesus’ time. He wanted them to believe in God’s unconditional love and mercy and to be open to seeing in new ways.
No doubt each of us have blind spots and we don’t see others and even ourselves as God sees us. We can be blind to the goodness in all of God’s creatures. We can judge and trust to see them with eyes of faith.
Jesus asks us to come out of the darkness into the light. We are given the gift of faith in order to allow God’s light to shine through us. Our actions, our forgiveness, mercy and compassion, are the ways we live out this precious gift of faith.
