Reflection for The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ… June 14, 2020
By Sr Joy Connealy, ND
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord; Whoever eats this bread will live forever.”There are so many hungers in our world today and in our own hearts. We hunger for unity, equality, safety, justice and well-being for all. We cry out these hungers in so many ways and honestly search for understanding. We long for the peace that only comes when we acknowledge God’s presence in each person and all of creation. We hunger for communion. For so many, that hunger has been deeply felt as we have not been able to receive the Eucharist. This precious gift that nourishes and sustains us has not been possible and we have had to go deep into our being to the Source of Life. Praying a Spiritual Communion each day has reminded me of that great well-spring of life that is within each of us. We are gifted to receive the Body and Blood of Christ so often, but that is not the only way we are nourished by our loving, ever-present God.

As we watch the news, pray for equality and attend to the needs of those around us, we look into others’ eyes and see God’s presence. We receive God’s life as we work to address the hungers of our world and seek understanding that leads to communion.
