Reflection for the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time – January 23, 2022

By Barbara Hickey, Notre Dame Associate

Ps 18-8, 9, 10, 15

The law of the Lord is perfect.

Refreshing the soul making us whole.

 …

The decree of the Lord is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.

God’s decrees (or laws) are one of the eternal purposes of God, by which events are foreordained.

 …

The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart.

A guiding principle or rule that is used to control, influence or regulate conduct.

 …

The command of the Lord is clear.

God, as he shall command us.

 …

The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.

Having a deep respect and awe for God’s power and authority.

 …

The ordinances of the Lord are true, all of the just.

Specific acts of worship commanded by God, including the sacraments.

Let the words of my mouth

and the thoughts of my heart

find favor before you.
