Thirty First Sunday in Ordinary Time…November 3, 2024

By Sr Rita Ostry ND

Readings:  Deuteronomy 6:2-6 and Mark 12:28b-34

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The readings of this Sunday remind us of the core and heart of God’s commands.  Our God longs for a deep, intimate, loving relationship with each one of us.  That little word “all” adds a dimension of commitment and conversion that requires a deep personal transformation of one’s spirit.

  • It requires developing a spirit of seeing the world as God’s sees it, good, beautiful and continually growing and creating.
  • It means courageously sharing one’s presence with others in relationship and connectedness with understanding, compassion, healing, and forgiveness.
  • It means living with an attitude of gratitude for the joyful and delightful blessings of life, as well as those growing experiences of disappointments and suffering.
  • It is surrendering to and believing in God’s infinite love and wisdom working in and through us so we may LOVE OTHERS AS GOD LOVES US.

Blessings throughout the week as you continue following the ways God beckons you to a deeper, loving relationship.
